We Have Sold The Boat
About a month ago Dad noticed that there was gas and oil leaking underneath the boat. Lance, Dad and I moved the boat to the street because Dad was worried about the fire hazard. He figured there must be a leak somewhere. After calling the Bayliner stores in St. George and SLC, Scott Barney in Richfield and two sport stores in Cedar City, Dad knew that it was going to take over $2,000 to repair the cracked gas line. Dad was told that the gas line was most probably plastic and something had frozen in it and cracked the gas line. When it thawed, the gas and oil leaked out. Dad was so sad because he has taken such good care of the boat. In the past he had always filled the gas tank completely full for winter, but we hadn't used it for two years and he didn't want to mix old gas and new gas and when would we use up that much gas so he didn't and I guess that is how moisture froze in the gas line. The High Priest Group Leader (Dannie Condie) in our ward is a retired mechanic, was Lloyd's counselor in the bishopric and so Dad ask him if he knew anyone that might be interested in a boat that needed to be repaired. He said he was and came and looked at it while we were at work. Last night he called Dad and ask a few more questions and wanted the toys too. So today when I got home from work there was $200 sitting on the desk. Dad had met Dannie at 1:00 pm and sold him a boat trailer, a working engine, some life jackets and water toys, and a big project to hopefully use the toys. The floor has to be cut out to get to the gas tank. Dad is happy to have someone take it that can fix it and have some more fun with it. We have so many good memories with that boat that I think this was the only way to get Dad to part with it.

This is SO sad. As I read it, it was as if someone had died. Give Dad a big hug from me and tell him I love him. Thank you Mom and Dad for providing us kids a great way to create family memories that we will all remember for the rest of our lives. That boat was part of the family and it was what brought us together as a family. I guess we will just have to find a new way for this next generation to become close and build memories together. Love you lots!!!!
How sad! I didn't even know you had a boat.
I love our boat. We've got it up for sale right now but I'm secretly hoping no one will want it. I feel the same as Karen does, we have created so many great family memories on it and I hope there are many more to come. I hope it will bring us together as a family like she said (especially when they're teenagers)! Love you, Bonnie
